A plain window in front of a plain table conceals a small secret. The only hints lie on the table, a charcoal drawing of a moth and two small piles of matches, one of burnt and one of new. Light a tiny flame and hold it to the charcoal drawing. A flutter of wings against the window above and then a series of six small lights glow from behind the panes to reveal a sequence of moths drawn to the flame. The flame creeps toward your fingers. What surfaces from dark places, whether beneath the ground or just beyond sight?
