Limonaia + The Conservatory
2019
Site Specific Collaborative Installation in the Red Room at Arcosanti
Silk Chiffon, Plaster, Plants, Plaster, Canvas, Acrylic, Sound System & Recording Studio

A poetic reinterpretation of historical greenhouses, Limonaia, reunites the polyseme of “conservatory” as distinct spaces for musicians and plants into a single place of respite. Here, the bygone era of municipal conservatories as gathering places for communal activities revives as a space to harbor the creations and conversations of artists contributing to FORM. Multiple panels of silk evoke both the tessellated structures of greenhouse walls and the overlapping windows on our laptop screens to veil and screen the occupants of the room. Will being surrounded by muted screens among growing airplants and musicians hold us in this space as we recharge and grow as artists and as a community?

Limonaia is a collaboration between Erin Curry, Evan Galbicka, and Senta Achée. This project was commissioned by FORM Arcosanti, Patreon, and Pulp Arts in collaboration with Talkhouse and the musicians who performed there.

Activations and performances by FORM musicians, programming and recording by Pulp Arts & Talkhouse podcast.
