This series of paintings were begun in the summer of 2021 after learning Pickleball. The freedom of connecting with my body and social engagement again felt euphoric and liberating. During travel to DC Seattle, WA from home courts in Gainesville, FL, I found new friends to play. The courts and the various ways we enter play fascinate me. I took reference photos of the grids of the courts and noted the ways the lines and shadows of multi-use courts—especially tennis and pickleball—interacted.

The milkpaint I use is a similar texture and color as most court paint and all are directly inspired by courts I've played across the country. Metallic powder pigment lends a sheen that shifts depending on where you stand.
